As a kid, Mike learned about hard work by helping on his grandfather’s small cattle farm and waking early to milk cows on his neighbor’s dairy farm. His teenage roofing business led to a home building company, which cemented his philosophy that if you are willing to outwork others you can reach big goals.

It’s no secret that Mike is an unexpected politician. Mike believes that if you are not actively challenging yourself to be a better man, you run the risk of becoming a person you don’t want to be—and that you truly find yourself when you serve others. 

Mike has been representing his neighbors in Utah House District 12 since 2015, and has been Speaker of the House since 2023.  

Melissa is the cornerstone of the Schultz family. She is that special mom who sees each child’s individuality and supports them to excel – a skill she extends to those in her community, as well.  She understands that actions speak louder words. Melissa is known for her personal discipline, and is a great natural teacher. Tennyson understood her resolve when he wrote “strong in will to strive, to seek, to find and not to yield.”
